Not one...not yet...but today the birds have come back. Not sure if robins or Baltimore orioles, but they are flapping and the ducks are dabbling and diving...so soon there will be flowers.
But as of today...the day we depart of three weeks in Singapore – Sri Lanka and the Malabar Coast of India...I can’t see one thing in the garden... so there are no pictures because they would all be of snow, bare branches and some conifers that you have already seen.
The Snow Drops are even smothered. The hellebores cannot compete with layers upon layer of snow engulfing them for six weeks. SIX WEEKS. I don’t know what to think, but take heart after being reassured tonight by Dennis Limonius a person I implicitly trust who knows our land and our cycles because he grew up with them, says everything is going to be alright. That the broadleaf evergreens might suffer a litte, but for the most part no fear. The snow cover has been a blessing.
And he said this to me in the Parish hall of our Church...so it must be true.
