Actually, it's just a hellebore and usually called
Christmas Rose
or Lenten Rose, but for my purpose today
of
wishing you all a
Wonderful New Year...
let’s call it a New Year’s Rose
and let’s call this a New Year’s Tree because it is
so full of life
and Skimmia, which is a fleeting garden presence,
is at this moment full of verve -- fine Christmas decor,
this nice reddish-purple
Holiday green and red is even better when
the red’s a little richer,
like burgundy or claret...
those gorgeous bacchanalian colors
of grapes and wine can only
be achieved in nature
the last leaves of Hydrangea oak-leaf
The lush tones of turning-toward-winter Acer japonica
the lush leaves of the underrated Oxalis, which is a perennial
for me
The Holidays have been good to us
you might notice that I kept my long
Hamlet hair, but will be gone in the New Year
The Nature Trail is filled with happiness
and hungry ducks
We invite you in
The new goose has settled down and seems right at home
The swans are more proprietary than ever
Dell Cullum’s photos have never been more beautiful
...and at home we had festive touches here and there,
ever more artistic wrapping of The Fig Tree
and this little dog waddling around singing
Jingle Bells – Ho Ho Ho
but we didn’t go all out because now we are off on a jaunt to Tuscany, Florence to be exact,
to take in all the wonders.
In my pre-now life I was too busy shopping and
I have to admit, I couldn't tell one saint from the other
Things have changed radically.
Now I will not miss glorious things like the
Vasari Corridor and the
frescoed Churches...so, I really feel this
family trip is
as if my first time.
That walkway on top of the Ponte
Vecchio is the art-lined corridor that was built by the Medicis to take
them across the river to the Pitti Palace without having to mingle.
I can hardly wait, but
because I will be away til January 15th,
there are no Dianne B Best
Hot Offers attached here...
only my
VERY GOOD WISHES
for an
EXUBERANT NEW YEAR
and, of course
PEACE in the WORLD
